Apple is all set to increase the storage space of its iPhone. The 8GB iPhone currently available has been updated to 16GB and will be available in the UK, as confirmed by Pocket-Lint, via O2 stores. The increased storage space means more videos, songs and photos. The confirmed price is $599, that is nearly a hundred dollars more than the 8GB iPhone.

Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPod and iPhone Product Marketing, says, “For some users, there’s never enough memory”, however, those who are satisfied with their 8GB iPhones might not find it necessary to spend more for more storage capacity.

By now, most people across the world have a certain regard for the brand name ‘Nokia’, that it is almost difficult to compete with anything churned out by them with decent quality and good performance. The problem though has been that sometimes it seems that either the design team of Nokia is either stuck in a time capsule or just feeding of past reputation. These days they just are not the same as they were when they started out. But then I’m sure there are plenty out there that disagree. But with the launching of the N series Nokia seems to have turned the corner finally. The N95 is truly a multimedia delight. It virtually has blown away all competition in its category and almost stands alone. Samsung is now at least attempting to try and challenge that monopoly by making a tweak to the Samsung G800. The Samsung G810 is nothing more than the Samsung G800 with the addition of Wi-Fi. The Samsung G800, a 5-megapixel 3.5G camera phone with a 3x optical zoom lens already has been dubbed as the ‘Photographer’s delight’. But many users have already claimed otherwise.

The G810 also has a slightly larger screen than its predecessors. The new screen is 2.6 inches and beyond this there is not much change. One still would feel that Samsung is aiming too high with the G810 if it believes that the new version can challenge the N95. But with more and more people exploring beyond the traditional ‘Nokia Choice’, the G810 has a fair chance. Wish I could get a bit of a trial, especially since I’m stuck with a 2.2-megapixel camera phone.

If I had to name one mobile company of all for most innovative designs in recent past then without doubt it’ll be LG. They have certainly improved a lot with time. Their mobile phones have gone from shear wastage to total ownage.

LG will soon be launching KF510 slider phone. It is equipped with 3 MP autofocus camera and boasts of a cool touch sensitive keypad on the outside. This innovative touchpad uses ‘Interactive Touch Lighting’ technology and hence KH510 is taglined as ‘Touch Lighting Phone.’

No details have been released yet as this phone will be soon showcased at Mobile World Congress 2008 which will be held at Barcelona. Hopefully, KF510 will go on sale for around $330 in March.

Taiwanese mobile manufacturer Gigabyte is all ready to show off its wares at the next week’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. One of the phones it will announce is a smartphone G-Smart MS800.

From what little is available on the net on this phone, we’ve come to believe that it’d be a good-looking phone if not anything else. It dimensions are 116×59×14.95 mm and weighs about 130 gm. Here are some of its specs:

Softbank is out with another phone now and this one is by Toshiba. Known as 921T, Toshiba’s latest handset is equipped with 3.2 MP camera, 2.8” widescreen display (200×400), Bluetooth, IrDA, TV, WCDMA with HSDPA and microSD card slot.

This nice looking clamshell is waterproof, and its waterproof shell complies with IPX5, IPX7 standards. Its hinge enables it to be revolved in 2 directions. TV-Tuner used in 921T receives 1-seg digital-TV programs.
